Check out what I got up to during the month of March! Continue reading below.
Dawn of the Eclipse by E.L. Lewis Copyedit
Oh, boy, the recap visual might not look too impressive, but that 2-pass copyedit on Dawn of the Eclipse took me ALL MONTH. This 130,000-word romantasy, which will be traditionally published by Keeperton, was a 2-pass project, which means it added up to around 260,000 words when all was said and done. The worldbuilding was so detailed and intricate that the book's style sheet ended up being a whopping 25 pages! I can't reveal much about the project, but I will say that E.L. Lewis is an absolute expert at slow-burn anticipation.
Continuing Professional Development
This month, I was only able to attend one webinar, but it covered some common grammar issues that I definitely encounter on almost all the projects I work on. Cyndi Sandusky's "Conquering Grammar Gremlins" offers a lot of handy tips for writers struggling with common grammar issues such as when to use "lie" versus "lay," when to use "less" rather than "fewer," whether it's "farther" or "further," and when it should be "into," "in to," "onto," or "on to," among others. She also explains what "zombie" grammar rules are and why and when it's okay to break them.
If you're an author and want a quick, easy explanation for those common grammar issues so you can master them, you can purchase the prerecorded webinar here and view it at your convenience!
Anything Else?
Well, I completed 4 sample edits and booked a novella copyedit for a new client, a 2-pass copyedit on a monster romance novel for a returning client, and a beta read on a collection of short stories for a returning client. Those will be my projects for April, along with a line edit of the first part of an epic fantasy manuscript for a returning client who did extensive revisions on it after I first did a partial line edit on it last year.
Right now I'm booked solid for April, so if you want to publish during early summer, now is the time to book your spot!
